Meet Melissa

Melissa Metcalf Le Roy is a nationally recognized nonprofit leader, educator, and consultant dedicated to strengthening organizations that strengthen communities. A graduate of Duke University, Melissa now serves as an Instructor for Duke University’s Nonprofit Management Certificate Program and Advanced Certificate Program. In this role, she teaches nonprofit management classes across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, equipping nonprofit leaders with the skills they need to thrive.

Beyond the classroom, Melissa is deeply invested in the nonprofit sector. She is a board member of the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, where she has also been named a nonprofit mentor for the western region of the state. As a mentor, she provides guidance and support to nonprofit executives navigating growth, leadership, and sustainability challenges.

Melissa extends her expertise to the broader public through her regular “Non-Profit Leadership” column in the Tryon Daily Bulletin, where she shares insights on governance, leadership, and community impact. She is also the founder of OnFire Non-Profit Consulting, her own firm dedicated to helping organizations build capacity, improve operations, and maximize their impact.

Passionate about advancing the nonprofit sector, Melissa combines academic rigor, hands-on experience, and a heart for service. Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or the community, she is committed to empowering leaders and organizations to make a lasting difference.

At On Fire Nonprofit, our story began with a passion for helping businesses succeed. Melissa saw a need for personalized, results-driven consulting services, and set out to create a company that would meet that need. Today, she continues to uphold that same passion and commitment to excellence.
